RunForIt 12.0 - Endometriosis Australia | FLOW

Our final event for 2023 went off with a BANG!

Trying out a new location, we took the community to Newstead Waterfront Park in support of Endometriosis Australia.

Endometriosis Australia is a charity close to the hearts of many in our community with the condition impacting such a significant number of women worldwide.

Often called the ‘silent disease’ endometriosis affects 1 in 7 women in Australia.

The disease occurs largely in areas we cannot see (reproductive organs and other tissues) and often goes undiagnosed. For most women, a diagnosis will take 6.5 years.

That is 6.5 years of tremendous pain, discomfort and often fertility issues, all of which can heavily impact daily life.

Endometriosis Australia raises awareness, educates and funds vital research for endometriosis.

Endometriosis Australia has been promoting awareness, pursuing advocacy, producing resources and information, and highlighting the impact of endometriosis in the workplace for the past 10 years.

Their efforts have reduced the diagnosis time from 7–12 years to 6.5 years on average, but much work still needs to be done.

12.0 was aligned to the theme of 'FLOW'. That sense of fluidity between your body and mind, where you are totally absorbed by and deeply focused on something, beyond the point of distraction. This theme came to life in the way of a bright t-shirt design by RunForIt Co-Founder, Ash Webber.

Held at 5:00pm instead of our usual 7:00am time slot, our community was able to connect over a setting sun, the warmth of dusk in December in Brisbane and finally a few cold refreshments at Range Brewing in Newstead after the event.

Over an 8 week campaign, our community was able to raise $2,758 for Endometriosis Australia and more importantly continue the hard conversations that keep endometriosis on the agenda for us all.
